Born in 1978 in Nazilli, Aydın, Dr. Ümit Özçelik completed primary school at Nazilli Sümer Primary School and his middle and high school education at Nazilli Anatolian High School.

He enrolled in Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1996 and graduated in 2002 with the degree of Doctor of Medicine.

Specialist Training and Professional Career

He began his specialist training in the Department of General Surgery at Başkent University in 2003 and qualified as a General Surgery Specialist in 2009.

He completed his compulsory public service at Yüksekova State Hospital and his military service in Özalp.

In 2012 he began working at Başkent University Istanbul Health Application and Research Center Hospital; he subsequently worked at the following institutions:

• Istanbul Aydın University Florya Medical Park Hospital
• Altınbaş University Bahçelievler Medical Park Hospital
• Lokman Hekim University Ankara Hospital

He served at these institutions.

Dr. Özçelik currently continues his work at Yeditepe University Koşuyolu Hospital Organ Transplantation Center.

He received the title of Assistant Professor in 2017 and Associate Professor in 2022.

Having worked in organ transplantation for approximately 20 years, Dr. Özçelik has participated in more than 1,000 kidney and more than 600 liver transplant operations.
